Carbon is not the Enemy

Urban trees improve air and water quality, reduce energy costs,
and improve human health, even as they offer the benefit of storing carbon.

We have failed to respect our most precious asset: nature. Let us begin walking backwards into the future. The truth is that rescuing our earth is easier than we might think. The solution lies in front of our eyes; it is nature itself. Carbon dioxide is the currency of photosynthesis, a source of Earth’s capacity for regeneration. Soil carbon is the guarantor of healthy ecosystems and food and water security. Carbon atoms are the building blocks of life.

From the soil up. Carbon is at the heart of soil health. In healthy ecosystems, when plants convert CO2 into carbon-based sugars — liquid carbon — some flows to shoots, leaves, and flowers. The rest nourishes the soil food web, flowing from the roots of plants to communities of soil microbes. Many soil researchers describe the “photosynthetic bridge” between atmospheric carbon and liquid carbon, and the “microbial bridge” between plants and biologically active, carbon-rich soils as twin cornerstones of landscape health and climate restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions!

Your tree is a premium citrus tree that has been in production for nearly three years. It needs time to grow and adapt to its new environment in your care. Typically, you can expect fruit to appear during the second autumn after planting, provided you nurture and care for it well. Your main responsibility is to help the tree become healthy and robust. Fruit on young, small, or weak trees is not ideal, as it diverts energy away from the tree’s growth.

Your tree will be delivered during the week or weekend as arranged. We avoid deliveries on public holidays. We will communicate all deliveries or pick-up arrangements via email or WhatsApp.

Our trees are from a certified nursery, and we are permitted to dispatch all around South Africa and neighbouring countries.

While we’d love to produce trees instantly, it takes time to cultivate citrus trees. Typically, the wait time for an out-of-stock tree is around six months. We will communicate to you via our website to stay informed about availability.

Citrus trees are robust and travel well. We take great care in packing them securely to ensure their safe arrival. When your tree arrives, unpack it immediately and place it in the shade for a day or two to acclimate. Give it a good drink to help it settle in.
